Roots to Wings
A financial analysis conducted in 2014 determined that an injection of capital investments for solidifying growth and sustainability was necessary. This analysis lead to the creation of our capital fundraising campaign Roots to Wings.
The campaign’s name “Roots to Wings” and its’ tagline “Sustaining the food centre that supports our community” came naturally as we reviewed the basis of our business structure. We have evolved from our roots of helping people in our community to seeking long-term solutions to hunger in our community. This journey has been so beneficial to our community and has the potential to become a force of sustainable innovation, but we have yet to reach our full potential. We need our wings. The Roots to Wings campaign will fund significant projects that are mandatory for our operation and necessary to continue battling poverty, hunger, and inequality.
The first year of our campaign was successful and has allowed us to continue growing, but there is more to be done. This year our campaign goal is $100,000 split across three target areas:
- Greenhouse Retrofits
- Warehouse Plumbing Installation
- Educational Signage
As part of our strategic plan, this fundraising campaign will continue in the future and there are numerous opportunities to become a long-term partner in our journey.
